This is a hybrid flower known as a Gazania Kiss Orange Flame. When permitted to blossom, it boasts the bold, dramatic colors of an autumn harvest in the middle of summer. As you study the luxuriously soft petals, you can practically smell the cinnamon, nutmeg, and other spices mingling in the mouth-wateringly creamy filling of a freshly baked pumpkin pie. Again, this is true only when the plant is permitted to blossom.

This is a hybrid flower known as a Gazania Kiss Orange Flame camouflaged as a red pot full of random greenery. As you gaze upon its rich, sumptuous hues, you can practically feel your stomach growl with discontent, yearning for any morsel more gratifying than a cool and crunchy salad. Something like pumpkin pie, perhaps, with a big ol' dollop of sweet, fluffy whipped topping?


Throughout the month of July, the Fitzgerald family home has been hit with a rash of brazen daylight heists. The valuables in question? The fiery jewels of this year's Potted-Porch-Petals Pageant, the Gazania Kiss Orange Flame blossoms. For weeks, the culprit (or culprits) proved maddeningly elusive, leaving no probative clues behind, but, as it happens with most offenders, given time, a slip-up was inevitable. Our intrepid detectives remained vigilantly on the case.

Finally, on the twenty-second of July, our team stumbled upon the smoking gun during a stretch of routine surveillance. The perpetrator not only left DNA traces near the prior location of the stolen riches, she was caught red-handed. Slinking into the targeted territory with the nimble finesse of a ninja, Calypso the Capering Klepto's crime was soon foiled by photographic proof of the lone remaining gazania bloom's deft removal and the suspect’s desperate attempt to swallow the evidence.

Detailed plans for a future burglary were also recovered at the scene.

 
 


Another mystery successfully solved by the FIB, the Fitzgerald Investigative Bureau. But, in a world where heinous crimes flow like an ancient raging river, a new and puzzling case file always awaits.
